The acclaimed documentary ALMOST HOLY tells the story of Gennadiy Mohknenko, a Ukrainian pastor who has taken up the fight against child homelessness by forcibly abducting street kids and bringing them to tát his private rehabilitation center. Gennadiy's ongoing efforts and unabashedly tough love approach to tát his city's problems has made him a folk hero to tát some, and a lawless vigilante to tát others. Using gripping footage that follows the self-appointed savior's mission over the course of fifteen years, interspersing imagery from a popular Soviet animated TV show; ALMOST HOLY is a bold and captivating portrait of a man fighting to tát change Ukraine for the better, as its place in a tense political landscape hangs in the balance. Directed by Steve Hoover (Sundance Grand Jury prize winner for BLOOD BROTHER), executive produced by Terrence Malick and Nicolas Gonda, and with a score by Atticus Ross, Leopold Ross, and Bobby Krlic.

Wow. It's sánh well done... The narrative is solid; you don't feel lượt thích it's forced or stretched just to tát be feature-length (quite the opposite). Gennadiy is more or less the center of the story, but you also get a fairly compelling glimpse into this town in the Ukraine--I could be more specific, but I think it'd be best to tát go in without knowing too much about it (that's how I am, anyway). I'm trying to tát remember, but I don't think I've seen a documentary with better production quality, either--not that I've seen a ton, necessarily, but Almost Holy just seems especially well put together.
